Marchantia polymorpha
This species is immediately recognized by the cup-shaped receptacles, containing discoid gemmae on dorsal side of thallus surface; ventral scales 4-6 rows, reaching to the thallus margins; margins of appendage of median scales entire or slightly crenulate, bordered by very small cells; female receptacles deeply divided in to numerous linear lobes. Thalli yellowish-green, broad, dichotomously branched, margins crispate, hyaline, with air chambers; ventral scales in 4-6 rows; appendage purplish, orbicular, margins irregularly undulate; compound pores in 6-8 concentric ring cells; rhizoids smooth and tuberculate; midrib distinct; epidermal cells smaller than inner cells; ocelli cells scattered, brownish, compound, spherical; gemmae cups rounded, cupules lobate, lanceolate, margins dentate, dorsally, bearing numerous, rounded gemmae; male receptacles not seen; female receptacles with 5-6 lobes.

On soil near concrete channels in disturbed places in primary, evergreen, seasonal, hardwood forest; granite bedrock, Pu Ping Palace, c. 1,400 m elevation.
